Isabella Cruickshank attended Garden House School from 2012 to 2019. Thereafter Isabella attended Putney High School.
Isabella won Gold in the 2022 Fencing National Championships. This is an extraordinary achievement. Isabella has written the following about her fencing story:
I started fencing at Garden House School and always really enjoyed the lessons. Prof Kent gave me a great introduction to the sport and after leaving GHS to join Putney High School, I continued to fence at a club outside school. I decided to focus on epee, (I had learnt foil at GHS) and have competed regularly at a National level and before Covid I had also entered a couple of international competitions which was really exciting to have the opportunity to compete with so many different nationalities.
This year (2022), having won the London Regional competition to represent London, I went on to win the gold medal at the British Youth Championships, it is an amazing feeling to be the British National Champion! I was also selected this year for the England team and I hope to soon be confirmed on the Under 17 GB team.
My aim is to be selected to represent Great Britain in future world championships. I would like to thank Prof and GHS for introducing me to such a wonderful sport and to encourage you all to try it and hopefully I will see you at a competition in the future!
Garden House School is an independent day school for girls and boys located in the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea in London, England.
